I Am the Resurrection and the Life
This sermon explores the concept of resurrection as a cornerstone of Christian faith. It draws on the biblical account of Jesus' encounter with Martha and Mary, whose brother Lazarus had died. Jesus, proclaiming himself "the resurrection and the life," declares that faith in him grants eternal life, even in the face of death. This resurrection, however, is twofold: a "Resurrection Now" experienced through faith in Jesus, and a "Resurrection Still to Come" in the future. The passage underscores that death is a consequence of sin and that Jesus, in his anger at death's grip on humanity, willingly suffered and rose again to defeat death and offer hope of a future resurrection. Ultimately, Pastor Josh encourages believers, even in the midst of suffering, questioning, and doubt, to find solace in Jesus' shared grief and the promise of eternal life through his resurrection.
